Italy's Chief Prosecutor visited Azerbaijan
At the invitation of Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev, a delegation led by Luigi Salvato, Chief Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation of the Italian Republic arrived in our country for a working visit.
Representatives first came to the Alley of Honor to pay tribute to the memory of our national leader, the architect and founder of the modern independent Azerbaijani state, Heydar Aliyev, by laying a wreath in front of his grave. They also visited the grave of the prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
The guests also went to the Martyrs' Alley to commemorate the memory of the children of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
In the meeting held at the Prosecutor General's Office, the Prosecutor General, warmly welcoming the guests, noted that thanks to the political will of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the President of the Republic of Italy, Mr. Sergio Mattarella, the historically existing relations between our countries have been successfully developing, and stressed the importance of expanding legal cooperation.
The Prosecutor General informed his counterpart that in accordance with the strategic course and priority goals of the state policy pursued by the Head of State, reforms are being carried out in the country aimed at strengthening the rule of law and ensuring the supremacy of law. He also noted that under the leadership of Victorious Commander-in-Chief, the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan has been fully restored, and thanks to the attention and care of the Head of State and the First Vice President of our country, Mehriban Aliyeva, rapid restoration and construction work is underway in Karabakh, in which Italian companies are also taking an active part.
Kamran Aliyev touched upon the digitalization of the prosecutor's office and the reforms carried out in this area, and spoke about the activities of the "Electronic Prosecutor's Office" information system, which meets modern requirements.
Expressing his gratitude for the invitation and warm welcome, Luigi Salvato said he was pleased to be a witness to the dynamic development of our country. The guest noted that they are interested in establishing relations between our prosecutor's offices.
Luigi Salvato emphasized that the cooperation between our law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime has been successfully implemented within the framework of the international conventions that our countries are supporters of.
The Prosecutor General of Italy said that the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, adopted on November 12, 1995, guarantees the protection of human rights and freedoms, democracy and the rule of law.
Chief Prosecutor Kamran Aliyev has announced that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, one of the world's most prestigious international events, will be held in our country on September 29-October 2 of this year, along with the 29th annual conference and general meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors.
Ricardo Cursi, Counselor of the Italian Embassy in our country, participated in the meeting.
Subsequently, the chief prosecutors signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Development of Cooperation with the aim of strengthening legal cooperation between our countries and further intensifying existing relations in the future.
